Weekly Wrap-Up; In the Right Direction

This week I made my goal to complete a half Ironman in 2015 known to the world and that provided me with some much needed motivation.  I woke up around 5:15 on Wednesday morning and couldn’t go back to sleep so I was looking at things on my phone.  I saw that my post has gone up and thought “huh, I guess to meet that goal I shouldn’t waste any time” so I got up and did a run before work.  I was also determined to get in all three Couch to 5k workouts this week and I did.  If I can stick to this schedule for the next couple of months (3 runs, 2 bikes) I would be pretty happy with that.  Ideally I would add strength training as well, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.weeklywrapup-16Feb2014I also started taking my nutrition more seriously this week as I realize my athletic goals will be much easier to reach if I weigh less.  I started tracking my calories using Lose It and hope to post some losses here in the near future.  Though this weekend with my family did nothing to help that.  I can eat really well at home and even when I’m with friends, but I really struggle around my family.  I think there are probably some reasons for that but it is too deep to get in to right now.

I’ve definitely been struggling this weekend with my depression demons.  I am glad I was still able to get my workouts in.  That is a big deal for me.  Hopefully a relaxing night alone will help me get in a better mindset so I can start this week off right!
