52 Activites in a Jar: Week 5

This year I wrote 52 activities on slips of paper and put them in a jar.  I am drawing one out every Sunday and trying to complete that activity during the week.  Some will have me serving others, some will be something I’ve never done, and some are just for fun.  The idea is to add a little variety to each week.  Feel free to join in any time!

Time for another update to my fun, random activities!  I’ve got one I’m holding on to right now.  Last week’s draw.  Sometimes the timing isn’t right to get an activity done in a week.  I’ll catch up on that.  Don’t worry.

This week’s draw was totally doable right away though!

This is something none of us do enough anymore.  We all love to get real mail though, right?  Hence why this was one of my activities.  So, I whipped out my address list (which is in Excel) and an old shoebox that is filled with cards, stationary, stamps, envelopes, stickers, and confetti.  Yeah, I’m prepared.

The cards I used all had quotes on them.

I sent three of the cards to a few of my favorite people who live far away.  The other two were sent to friends who I’ve grown apart from but about who I still care.  I don’t expect anything from them.  Just to bring a smile and let them know I was thinking about them.  I almost didn’t send those two because, well, I thought it might be a little weird.  But it is an act of kindness, so how weird or bad can that be?

I filled the cards with confetti (something I think I got from my sister) because what says ‘HI!’ like making a brightly colored mess when they open their mail? :)  I closed up the envelopes with stickers, addressed them, and mailed them off.

Hopefully the recipients enjoy these letters.  They were sent with love.

When was the last time you sent someone snail mail for no reason?
