Bucket List: Fitness & Races

I mentioned recently that I wanted to make a bucket list, keep it on a page on the blog, and mark things off as I do them.  I’ve split the bucket list up in to different sections and I’ll be posting about the items in each.

I’m not really differentiating between bucket list items and goals here.  I’m not sure exactly what the difference is!  Now, this is a bucket list which means there are a lot of items on the list and it’s very possible I will never accomplish them all.  Some I may not be capable of doing.  I don’t even expect to.  But having my wildest dreams in writing just might help me make them happen.  And if my dreams change, they change.  I’m not going to get hung up on how many things I can cross off and how soon I can do them.  (This is exactly the reason I never made 30 things before I turn 30 and lists like that.  Too much pressure!).

This is for fun, people!  And I’m going to have a blast :)

  • Olympic distance
  • Half Ironman distance (70.3)
  • Ironman distance (140.6)
  • Sub-1:30 sprint triathlon
  • Escape from Alcatraz triathlon OR Alcatraz swim

Mostly distance based items here.  I really want to say I’m an Ironman.  I kind of want to tattoo that proof right on me!  The sub 1:30 is a stretch but seems doable.  My best sprint time is 1:44 and that’s with a terrible run time (because I’m a horribly slow runner).  As I get better at running this should become a possibility.  And Alcatraz… the ocean swim makes my heart flutter with excitement!

(I’ve got big plans for crossing a few of these off in 2014/2015!)

  • Sub-30 min 5k
  • Sub-1 hour 10k
  • Sub-2 hour half marathon
  • Disney Coast to Coast Challenge (1 race at each Disneyland & Disney World in same calendar year)
  • Disney Dopey Challenge (5k, 10k, half, marathon on 4 consecutive days)

This is a solid mix of time goals (because as we mentioned, I’m slow as a sloth) and unbridled attempts at amassing medals.  The Dopey Challenge?  SIX medals in four days.  Big, fancy, Disney medals!  AHHHH 😮  Yeeeah.  I’m a medal whore and I don’t care who knows it!

Weight Lifting

  • Bench 150 lbs
  • Squat 215 lbs
  • Do an unassisted pull-up

I imagine these are possible, but not without a heck of a lot of work.  215 is kind of a weird goal but I had a dream last fall where I was able to squat that and so it’s the number in my head.

  • Try Crossfit
  • Try Yoga
  • Ski a black diamond (a real one, like in Colorado.  Not the ones in the Midwest that are like medium difficulty blues on real mountains!)
  • Scuba certification
  • Climb Kilimanjaro
  • Climb to Base Camp Mount Everest
  • Join Masters Swim Team
  • Compete in Masters Swim Meet

That’s what I have on this list so far.  I’ll definitely be adding to it as I go.  What do you think?

What’s on your Fitness Bucket List?

I love it! The coast to coast challenge would be fun. At this point I’m not sure I would ever do another tri. It was so hard!

I get this giddy high when I complete a triathlon, after the complete exhaustion passes 😛 And at least it isn’t all running… I’m not a good runner!

Wow some awesome items on your list :)
The Disney races sound so fun, and the medals are amazing, hopefully next year I will be earning Tinkerbell

Were you able to defer your entry? I hope you can go next year too!!

Disney really does have the best medals! :)
