Back to the Trainer…

… or Getting My Ass Handed To Me.

If you remember back in June I signed up for six weeks with a personal trainer.  About 2 weeks of training (1 month later) I realized it was silly to do that when I was going to be traveling every other week.  I put my plan on hold and now that I’m done traveling it was time to get back at it.

Tonight was my first workout with them.  I am doing two workouts a week with them, one upper body and one lower.  Tonight was lower body and they worked me HARD.  Here’s what I did:

  • 5 x 30 squats – that’s 150 total!!
    • Some with no weights, some holding weights, some below parallel.
  • 3 x 30 calf raises
    • I can’t tell you what the weight was.  It was the machine you sit on with the bar across your knees and lift the weight but instead of putting weights on it, the trainer just leaned on it himself.
  • Ab exercises

I was pretty nauseous and shaky by the end.  I expected this and I also know from my experience in June that it will get better after the first two weeks.

I’m giving the training about two months to see what kind of results I get.  I know a lot of that will depend on my eating as well, so I’ll be focusing on that too.  In fact, I haven’t done an update my month of small improvements, but it is going really well and I’ve been packing my lunches and tracking my food!

Some people may use the fall as a time to slack off a little since swimsuit season and racing season (at least here in the Midwest) are almost over.  I finally feel like my schedule will allow me to meet some of my goals!
