Fitbloggin is all about the people.

That statement couldn’t be more true.  The people are amazing!

I only knew one person before going there and I felt like I was welcomed with open arms.  I know I’m going to miss awesome people in this post (especially ones I didn’t get pics with) so to everyone I met, THANK YOU for making my first Fitbloggin an amazing experience.  I love you all!  Now, to the pictures!

I have to put Mel first here because she is the first person who ever came up to me (ever, not just at the conference!) and said “oh, I read your blog”.  She made me feel like a total rock star and she is an awesome lady!  As is “road-rage” (hehe :)) Tracy who I don’t have a picture of!

Next up is some ladies I shared a breakfast with on Saturday.  We had some good laughs about a certain donut!  I already read all of their blogs before going to the conference so it was pretty cool to meet them in person!

From left to right: Val, me, Margo, and Emily.

Annabel is known as “the cranky one” but in person I don’t think she could be farther from cranky!  She was insightful to talk to and I thought she was a sweetie.  And I love her hair.

And of course Brooke, who I live 20 minutes away from but had to go halfway across the country to see!  We are going to get better at this… I swear!  This was us doing a demo workout on the Total Gym.  I was disappointed that Chuck Norris wasn’t there.

The great thing about this conference is really connecting with people, and the next few pictures have people who I spent more time with and got to know a little better.  They helped make my conference experience really special!

Top Left:  Kari was just fun!  She’s so inspirational too.  She’s lost 160+ lbs!  This picture had to be taken twice… I positioned myself a little behind her because in the first picture my head looked HUGE!

Top Right:  Erin is the cutest thing ever.  I told her I love her accent (she’s from Washington state) but no one else thought she had one.  I guess I just love her voice!

Bottom Left:  Sarah has a fantastic British accent that reminds me of my time in London (sigh).  Here she’s sporting my Union Jack sunglasses on the rooftop of our hotel.

Bottom Right: Liz is a sweetheart and you can just tell she cares about everyone.  She was brave and led one of the sessions too!

This was our dinner crew… we ate out together Friday and Saturday nights.  This was taken at the Red Star Tavern.  Emily & Kay Lynn are on the right.  They are fabulous ladies and it would not have been the same without them!

I want to give a shout out to Sue, my plane buddy too.  I didn’t get to know her until Sunday morning when we shared a cab to the airport and then flew to Dallas together.  She’s a hoot.

Also, Matt, who is a pretty awesome guy (one of about 5 at the conference… brave!).  He actually lives in the same town as Sue and he is thinking about doing his first triathlon next year.  I wholeheartedly believe that anyone can do a triathlon and I can’t wait to follow his journey!

And Deb, Jenn, Rachel, Erica (my roomie!), etc, etc, etc.  Good people all around.

Now to the Funnies

These are just some of the funny things that happened at the conference that I wanted to share and also just document so I can look back and laugh!

#1 – I am pretty adept at making a fool of myself and Fitbloggin was no exception.  This is best highlighted by the following story:

As I was leaving the welcome reception on Thursday night I was feeling pretty awesome.  I walked through the expo area and saw a guy standing between the Nutralite & Blue Diamond tables.  For some unknown reason I assumed he was with Blue Diamond (which sells almonds) and I said “I LOVE YOUR NUTS!”  Right away it dawned on me that he was wearing a Nutralite shirt.  I think I said “OOPS!” and all he said was “well, this is awkward…”.

The funniest part?  I ended up telling this story to the ladies at the Nutralite table the next day (and had a run in with the guy, where I turned beet red) and I’m pretty sure it will now be told all over their company.  I’m famous!

#2 – My awesome new friend Kris thought I was stalking her because I kept showing up in the same sessions as her.  She nicknamed me “celery”… you know… cause I’m “stalk”ing her.  Haha!  For the rest of the conference, anytime I saw her I’d sneak up behind and follow her.  Good times!

#3 – New friend Kymberly also mentioned I seemed to be stalking her.  She thought I was good at it too… I would strategically (read: accidentally) get on the elevator after her and get off before her.  Possibly my favorite conversation of the weekend:

Kymberly:    I think you’re stalking me!

Me:    You’re the second person to say that to me!

Kymberly:    So the other 4 haven’t noticed yet?

Yeah, she is quick with the comebacks!

(Kymberly is on the left below!)

I had a little trouble coming back from Fitbloggin because my “real life” is not quite as full of love, light, and support.  I’m glad to know that these friends I’ve made are only a tweet or an email away! :)

Another awesome recap and thanks for the shout-out. I especially love that you worked the “road rage” into your post. LOL I’ll have to make sure Tracy sees this one. 😉
