More Germany Pictures!

I’m back in the good old USA and caught up on my sleep so I figured it was time to catch up on blogging as well.  Here are some more pictures from my Germany trip!

Let’s start with the food and drink.

It.  Was.  Delicious.

It took my stomach a couple of days to get used to it all because the food is rich, heavy, and starchy and you get pretty big portions.  The best food I had there was schnitzel and spatzle (below).  Isn’t that fun to say??

The beers there are, obviously, pretty darn good.  True story:  if you order beer it is served in a big old glass but if you order water you get about 4 ounces.  Guess they have their priorities straight :)

I didn’t get nearly the time to sightsee that I was hoping but I did get one evening in downtown Frankfurt before flying home the next day.  The weather was beautiful so my coworkers and I walked around downtown.  We first encountered what turned out to be the red light district and decided we would be better off down by the river.

It was quite picturesque.

We stopped for dinner and dessert right on the river.  In fact, we never ate inside the whole trip.  The weather was too nice.  They must not have any bugs at all in Germany.

I had heard that I needed to try the apple wine in Frankfurt and waiter told me the Germans drink it half and half with sparkling water.  It ended up tasting like Strongbow (a dry English hard cider… way better than Woodchuck… go try it if you haven’t!) so I was pretty pumped about it!

I also had the apple strudel.  Fun fact: dessert spoons in Germany look like little shovels.  So cute!

Tell me: doesn’t the top picture below look like it out to be on a tourism brochure for Germany?  So pretty.

Also, what kind of trees are those in the bottom right?

Alright, that’s all the pictures I have from Germany this time around.  Hopefully I’ll make it back there some day to see more.

What’s the best place you’ve ever traveled?
