The Heavy Stuff: Mental & Emotional Wellbeing

in Heavy Stuff

This year has been a trip.  Not a relaxing beach vacation or a fun, adventurous road trip.  It has been more like actually tripping repeatedly, falling on my face, and then having a herd of elephants stampede over me while I’m down.  (Isn’t visual imagery great?)

Really though, 2012 has been hard on me and it shows no signs of getting easier just yet.  I have been struggling with negative thoughts, anxiety, anger, and fear.  I have been dealing with hard topics like betrayal, forgiveness, and illness.

At first I did not want to post on these topics on this blog.  I worry about exposing myself too much on this site, getting too personal.  However, lately I’ve been realizing just how important the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of health really are.  They are just as important as nutrition, exercise, and weight loss and they affect those things!

Health isn’t just physical; it is mental, emotional, and spiritual as well.  It is the whole package… everything you are.

So I guess this post is just to let you, my readers, know that from time to time I will be posting on the heavier stuff.  I want to talk more about mental and emotional wellbeing.  I hope that by sharing some of my experiences I will be able to help someone, even if only to let them know they are not alone.

Thanks for reading.

2011 – and a lot of early 2012 – was a shitshow for me too. I’m trying to go through some of the heavier stuff on my blog, and the writing can be really helpful and cathartic. I’m really looking forward to seeing how you’re overcoming some of the struggles you’ve gone through – and watching you come out happier and stronger on the other side!

Thanks! I agree, the writing can really help to process the emotions and I need that right now!
