2012 Goals Update – Quarter 1

It’s a good idea to revisit your goals from time to time to check your progress and see if anything needs to be changed.  The ‘businesswoman’ part of me decided that since it’s the end of the 1st quarter (well… close enough), now would be a good time to do this.

So here we go!

Fitness/Health Goals

1)      Reach my initial goal weight of 160

Status: In Progress

My last weigh in showed me at 220 which means I’ve lost 16 lbs total but only 0.4 since the beginning of 2012.  I’m not surprised by this at all though it’s not where I wanted to be.  Major stresses and changes in my personal life have made this goal particularly hard because my eating has been horribly inconsistent.  Some emotions cause me to overeat and some cause me not to eat at all and I’ve been going back and forth.  That said, I’ve started tracking my food on Lose It again so I think that will help.  This goal WILL be accomplished by the end of the year, I can promise you that.

2)     Complete an Olympic distance triathlon

Status: In Limbo

So far all I’ve done is research races because it’s too early to start training.  I’m currently between the Peregrine Charities race on August 19th and the Hy-Vee Tri on September 2nd.  I did have a friend I was going to do this race with and I hope that still happens but it is in danger of falling through.  I’ll have a harder time registering and training for it by myself.  I’m waiting to see how things go.  Hopefully I’ll be registered in a couple of months.

3)     Run a sub-30 minute 5k

Status: In Progress

I recently started doing speed work (which I’ve never done before) once a week to help me achieve this goal.  I also joined a local running club that has track workouts every Wednesday starting in late April and going until early Fall.  I’ve heard rave reviews about the coach that sets up these workouts and he basically guarantees that you’ll get faster if you do his workouts every week.  Let’s hope he’s right!

4)     Complete (at least) 1 unassisted pull up

Status: Not Started

I haven’t been lifting recently.  I hope to restart Best Body Bootcamp soon and this will be a start towards getting stronger and being able to complete this goal.

5)     Improve on my half marathon time

Status: Not Started

This goal will be significantly helped by the speed work I’m doing but in reality it’s not something I am focusing on until the fall, if at all this year.  The Disney World Donald Duck half marathon in January 2013 is still a possibility but it’s a long ways away and we’ll have to see.

End 2012 Happier than I Started It.

Status: To Be Determined

I’m taking steps to make this happen but progress is slow and hard and I don’t know what the next months will bring.
