Remember all those email surveys you and your friends would send around back in the day? I’m so glad there are blog versions of those because I truly love filling them out. Here’s me from A to Z!
A is for age: 29 and aging like a fine wine.
B is for breakfast today: Egg on an English muffin.
C is for currently craving: A hug! My hug quota (it’s a thing!) lately has been extremely high.
Text hugs are good too, when you can’t get the real thing right away:
D is for dinner tonight: I’ll admit it. I have not planned this far in advance. Whatever it is, it will be meatless. Woot Lent!
E is for favorite type of exercise: I’ve been sitting here contemplating this question for about 10 minutes when it really shouldn’t be that hard. And in reality, it’s not. I may spend a lot more of my time running these days but my heart belongs to swimming. The pool was my home for 13 years of competitive swimming, lifeguarding, and swim lesson instruction and every time I go back in the water it still feels like home. I think I’m one of the only girls in the world (minus other life-long swimmers maybe?) who is more comfortable walking around in a Speedo than in almost any other outfit!
F is for an irrational fear: Falling through any sort of street grate. This is due to a recurring dream I had as a child where I fell into a deep one by my grade school, couldn’t get out, and no one could hear me screaming for help. I HATE walking on them!
G is for gross food: Totino’s pizza rolls. Oh my god, don’t even get me started.
H is for hometown: Platteville, WI. I don’t live there anymore but I loved growing up there. Random question: do you ever stop considering where you grew up your ‘hometown’? If you live in a different place your whole adult life, does this change in your mind? I don’t think it ever will for me.
I is for something important: The love and support of your family and friends. This year more than ever I am realizing how important it is to have a support group you can lean on in hard times.
J is for current favorite jam: Love Like Woe by The Ready Set. It is super catchy and fun and every time I hear it I think of Joey on Blossom saying ‘Whoa!’ Yep, a Blossom reference. I’m awesome like that.
Relive Joey Lawrence’s Whoa…
Now listen to Love Like Woe…
P.S. How awesome is Blossom (Mayim Bialik) as Amy Farrah-Fowler on Big Bang Theory? I think she’s hilarious!
(Apparently J should stand for “jam as many videos into this section of the post as humanly possible”!)
K is for kids: None. I have a dog and I love him but I like to think I’m not one of those people who think animals and children are the same despite the fact that he’s spoiled.
L is for current location: My desk.
M is for the most recent way you spent money: Cheap beer night at a local pub with my volleyball team after our game last night. It’s a common happening after volleyball because this place has $1.50 cans of bad beer. In case you were wondering, Keystone Light is bad beer of choice.
N is for something you need: Strength to do what is best for me despite it being much harder and scarier than the status quo.
O is for occupation: Process Manager for a large, well-known company that will remain nameless.
P is for pet peeve: People acting fake. Don’t pretend to be BFFs with people you don’t like and badmouth when they aren’t around. Don’t pretend everything is peachy when it’s not. Just be real (and no, that doesn’t give you the right to be mean).
Q is for a quote: “Life is like a moustache. It can be wonderful or terrible, but it always tickles.”
R is for random fact about you: I can’t handle things tight around my neck like turtlenecks or tight necklaces. Some regular t-shirts even bother me at times. I had 2 instances in my childhood where I was choked in the hands-around-my-neck-holy-crap-I-can’t-breathe way. Once was by my sister’s friend when I was pretty young (no one really knows why) and once by my 4th grade classmate on the playground because he was mad at me. Messed up, huh?
S is for favorite healthy snack: My roommate made a trail mix type thing with dried cherries, cranberries, and blueberries, honey roasted peanuts, and mini chocolate chips. They were all measured and mixed up in a big bowl and then split into 200-calorie servings. It’s delicious and filling and the perfect afternoon or pre-workout snack!
T is for favorite treat: Seasonal Sweettarts. The hearts for Valentine’s Day and the Chicks, Ducks, and Bunnies for Easter. YUM!
U is for something that makes you unique: I’ve never gotten a brain freeze in my life. I get back freezes instead. I think some lines got crossed somewhere! I’ve only met one other person that gets back freezes and that’s my sister. Genetic marvels, we are.
V is for favorite vegetable: Peppers. Bell, sweet, banana, jalapeno. I like them all.
W is for today’s workout: A run! I have a 10 mile race in 5 weeks and I have not been training like I need to.
X is for X-rays you’ve had: Innumerable on my ankles. I’ve had approximately 10 bad sprains and one surgery. My ankles are not my strongest feature.
Y is for yesterday’s highlight: Volleyball league. It’s over for the year now and it makes me super sad.
Z is for your time zone: Central
