Thanking the Running Gods

Last night I was thanking the running gods from the bottom of my heart.  After nearly a month of really (really!) slow runs and a week of runs I could barely finish (and didn’t finish without walking), I had a GREAT run last night.  GREAT. 

It was a short run, just 3 miles. 

It was a beautiful run, on the Mississippi River bike path at dusk. 

It was the first time since my injury three months ago that I ran at my generally accepted “normal” pace (it’s still slow, y’all, but it’s mine!).   Seriously.  For the last month I’ve been plodding along so slowly that three-legged turtles have passed me.  For some reason I just didn’t think I had it in me.

Turns out though, I still got it.  Move over Stella, Stephanie has got her groove back! 😉

It felt good to push past all those negative thoughts.  It felt good to exhaust myself. 

It felt good to believe I can do it again.

T minus 8 weeks to the Disney half marathon.  Bring it!
