Change is often necessary to reach your goals, yet people resist it. It isn’t easy. It Don’t let fear of change hold you back. Embrace change as a way to learn more about yourself.
Some people don’t think they need to change and maybe that’s true. It depends on what your goals are. Do you want your life to be any different than how it is now? Do you want a better job? To lose weight? Save more money? Run a triathlon? Learn a new skill? These things won’t just happen. They’ll require you to change, even just a little.
“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
What changes do you need to make to get on the right track? Think about it. These should be good, healthy changes that align with your personal values. Got an idea? Write it down. Then break it down into ways you can make the change.
Here’s a personal example:
Change Needed: Stop eating my weight in potato chips when I get home from work because I’m famished and I can’t wait for dinner. (Yes, this happened all last week!).
Ways to Make the Change: Pack healthy snacks to eat in late afternoon before coming home so I’m not so hungry. Throw out/don’t buy trigger foods so I won’t be tempted. Ask roommate to kindly stop buying Chili & Cheese flavored Ruffles every time he goes to the store even though it’s incredibly sweet AND they taste exactly like the awesome diner-style chili cheese fries that I love.
Once you know what changes need to be made, take ACTION. Make it happen. It won’t happen overnight. It might be hard at first. It will get easier though. It will make you feel good about yourself. If you make changes that support your goals and ideals, the end result will be well worth the effort.
So, go make a change. Change the way you eat. Change how you exercise. Change how you manage your time. Change how you spend or save your money. Change your appearance. Change your attitude. Change your life.
What will you change today?
