As meditation and other eastern practices have become more common in our society, there has been a lot of talk of mantras. Do you really know what it is though?
The definition of a mantra is a sound, syllable, word, or combination of words that is considered capable of ‘creating transformation’. How powerful is that? Imagine a group of words transforming you. It’s possible. Words change people’s perceptions. They change people’s opinions and moods. Mantras are a part of positive self-talk as well, affecting how you feel about yourself.
One of my favorite mantras is “Better Stronger Faster”. I use it to push myself. To remind myself during a tough workout why I’m doing it in the first play. It’s what I’m aiming for and what I want to become. It gets me through and focuses me on my goals.
Whenever my friend Heather hears my mantra she thinks of the Daft Punk song “Harder Better Faster Stronger”. It’s a bizarre little techno song with a bizarre YouTube video of two girls dancing out the lyrics. Rather entertaining.
I wonder how long it took them to get through that dance without messing up. A while I bet!
I prefer my mantra over the lyrics of the song, but it’s along the same lines. I’m going to keep striving to be Better Faster & Stronger!
What’s your mantra?
